Notice of Public Hearing on Tax Rate

The Harris County Water Control and Improvement District No. 50 will hold a public hearing on a proposed tax rate for the tax year 2023 on October 13, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at 1122 Cedar Lane, El Lago, Texas 77586. Your individual taxes may increase at a greater or lesser rate, or even decrease, depending on the tax rate that is adopted and on the change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in taxable value of all other property. The change in the taxable value of your property in relation to the change in the taxable value of all other property determines the distribution of the tax burden among all property owners.

Water consumption during late August to date has been greatly reduced thanks to the all-hands cooperation of our community and of course to the few days of rain that finally happened more recently. Due to this successful community-wide effort, the WCID 50 Board has waived the Stage 3 Drought contingency surcharge and will issue credits for any payments of these charges on a future bill as soon as processing allows. The District is also pleased to advise that there were no fine notices issued, only warnings.

Accordingly, as of September 20, 2023, WCID 50 is lowering its drought condition from Stage 3 to Stage 2. It is also likely that some stage of WCID 50’s Drought Contingency Plan will remain in effect as operations and usage warrant and/or until the Cities of Pasadena and Seabrook have eliminated any drought conditions they have set. Please continue to conserve water and thank you for the cooperation.
